In this interview, Team Factors Ltd share how specialist invoice finance and factoring can support health and social care providers to manage cash flow pressures, pay staff on time, and grow with confidence.
What is the name of your business, and what does it stand for?
Team Factors Ltd. Our name represents two core pillars: what we do, providing specialised invoice finance and factoring solutions, and how we do it. We believe success is built on teamwork. We don’t just fund businesses, we become a dedicated part of their team, supporting their growth and financial stability every step of the way.
When was your business founded?
Team Factors was founded in 2010 by our CEO, John Shulman. He launched the company with a clear mission: to empower often-overlooked small businesses with financial solutions that allow them to focus on what matters most, delivering exceptional service and growth without the weight of cash flow restraints.
What products or services do you offer?
In short, we provide up to 90% of the value of an invoice on the day you raise it, directly aiding cash flow and growth. While we fund most industries, we specialise in invoice finance, factoring, and payroll solutions specifically tailored to the health and social care sector. Our services unlock the cash tied up in unpaid invoices, providing care providers with the liquidity needed to pay staff on time, invest in growth, and maintain the highest standards of care.
What problem does your business solve for customers?
Cash flow is one of the most significant challenges in healthcare, particularly for SMEs. Long payment cycles from local authorities, the NHS, or large private groups can put immense pressure on providers, especially as staffing and compliance costs rise. We solve this by turning unpaid invoices into immediate working capital.
What makes your business unique or different from competitors?
Unlike generic finance providers, we live and breathe health and social care. We understand the complexities of care funding and staffing challenges. Our approach is personal, we build long-term partnerships rather than simple transactions. When you work with Team Factors, you gain a partner who cares about your success as much as you do.
What inspired you to start this business?
John Shulman: During my 30-year career, I saw an incredible number of businesses that were unaware of, or under-served by, the banks and financial institutions of the time. New start-ups in particular were often priced out or lacked access to the right levels of support. I saw this as both a professional and a deeply personal opportunity. I wanted to help as many entrepreneurs, builders, and rebuilders as possible, while providing very high levels of service at a great value point. I am tremendously proud, 16 years on, to have had a hand in helping thousands of UK businesses develop and see our own business continue to thrive.
What was the biggest challenge you faced when starting out?
Breaking into a sector where trust is everything. Health and social care providers need partners who truly understand their world. We invested the time to listen, learn, and prove that we are more than just a finance company, we are a vital part of their team and their success.
What do you consider your biggest success so far?
Helping hundreds of care businesses move from surviving to thriving. Seeing clients who once struggled to meet payroll go on to open multiple new sites or take on new contracts because we provided the financial breathing space they needed is incredibly rewarding.
What is your vision for the business?
To be the go-to financial partner for the UK health and social care sector, known for trust, expertise, and unwavering support. We want every care provider to feel confident about their future because they have Team Factors by their side.
Who is your ideal customer?
Health and social care providers including residential homes, domiciliary care agencies, and specialist service providers who want to grow but are held back by cash flow. If you raise invoices on credit terms, we can likely help you.
What is the main need or pain point your customers have?
Delayed payments from the end customer. This creates stress, impacts staff morale, and limits growth. We remove that barrier by releasing the cash tied up in those outstanding invoices.
Why have you chosen to exhibit at The Care Show?
Because this is where the heart of the care sector beats. We want to meet providers face-to-face, understand their current challenges, and show them how a real partnership can transform their business.
What is the most common feedback you get from customers?
“You’ve taken the stress away.” Our clients often tell us that working with Team Factors feels like having an extra arm to their business, someone who is always there to relieve the day-to-day pressures of running a care service. We encourage you to read our Google Reviews to see the impact firsthand.
What is one story that showcases the impact of your business?
A children’s care home group approached us when they were struggling to pay staff due to local authority payments being 15 days overdue. Within two weeks, we unlocked their cash flow issue, enabling them to stabilise operations and take on more cases. Today, they are thriving and have recently opened a third home with more expansion to come.
